Administrative
Each team will owe the league $50, whether it’s paid in full or split amongst the players of your team. This is due at the end of the regular season. If not paid, the team will be ineligible for playoffs and awards.
We are back to a one conference format. Teams will be ranked strictly from 1-12, with the following tie-breakers in use, in order of priority: most wins, fewest losses, H2H record, H2H PD, SOV, SOS, PD. The H2H tie-breaker will be skipped in the two-team case if the teams haven't faced off, or in the three-or-more-team case, if all teams haven't played all other teams in the tie.
Playoffs will grant the 1-4 seeds 1st round byes. The first two rounds will consist of one game, first to 60, with the semi-finals and finals being best 2 out of 3 to 45.
You will be photographed and video recorded, and the content will be used for promotional purposes across all LentzSportzNet platforms. The league will send everyone their flick folders following each game, unedited.
Game
Half court, not full court.
Teams must have a maximum of three players on the court, at all times.
Baskets will be scored as 2s and 3s, not 1s and 2s.
Small jump ball OR rock, paper, scissors to determine who starts with the ball. Loser gets the ball at halftime.
After jump ball/rock paper scissors and winner gets ball, check up at line.
You have to pass first. You don’t have to pass to the wings immediately: you can create a play (pick n roll) that requires a pass, or you can even drive in then pass. The person that receives the check just CANNOT shoot or the play will be called dead and we will switch possession.
After points are scored, ball will switch possession. No make it, take it. If your team scores points, you must check the ball to your opponent.
Halftime occurs as soon as one team records at least 23 points.
The game ends as soon as one team records at least 45 points.
No win by 2.
Bench subs can only happen after points are scored or a stoppage in play such as the ball going out of bounds or a foul occurs. You can’t switch mid play.
The only people who can call a foul: the player who was fouled, and the player who committed the foul. If fouls end up being an issue for a player or for your team as a whole, a mediator may be enforced to uphold or overturn excessive foul calling.
Following a foul being called, the ball switches possession.
If you completely miss the net and backboard, you cannot grab your own rebound. This isn’t the same as hitting the backboard; you have to make no contact with the backboard or the hoop in order for this rule to be put into place.
If a league rep is not present, the teams are responsible for keeping track of individual points (including 2-pointers and 3-pointers made) and team totals.
Wear coordinated outfits/colors.
Roster
7 on a roster is the max with no restrictions: they can all play on the same day! 4 is the minimum roster size.
However, for a game to be played, you only need 3 players. You can have all seven, but you can also have the minimum of three as well.
Your rosters are finalized the day you step onto the court, based on your last communication with the league, with the lone exception of the following Emergency Rule:
Emergency Rule: If a player on a roster is legitimately hurt, a player has to move etc. the player can be replaced by someone else to keep your roster size the same. This is only for extreme cases. It is not a loophole, and a replacement player MAY be voted on by your fellow GMs.
College basketball players are not permitted to play in this league, to ensure a competitive and fair environment. Previous players are grandfathered, which currently only applies to two players. If you have a question about this rule specifically, please contact the league for additional information.
In order for a player to be eligible for playoffs, a player must play 2 games (one scheduled day-equivalent) of the 12 game season. Emergency Rule doesn't apply here.
Trades aren’t permitted.
Schedule
The schedule is set before the season. We are no longer having GMs schedule their own games due to scheduling conflicts last season. If you need to reschedule or change a time for your matchup, you have to contact the GM.
Postponement would mostly occur due to one of two reasons: weather and court availability issues.
Postponed games will be rescheduled after conversation between the league and the affected GMs.
Scott Park is our home base, but you don’t have to always play there. Come to an agreement with the opposing GM if you wish to play elsewhere. Scott's lights shut off at 10PM, for reference.
